An optometrist is a person qualified to examines people’s eyes for defects and abnormalities, and diagnoses eye diseases. They perform eye tests to offer correct prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses. An optometrist is not to be confused with an optician (who sells glasses and associated products), and an ophthalmologist (a medical specialist who surgically treats eye diseases).
